A shocking incident of abduction and sexual assault has been reported from the Danilimda area of Ahmedabad, where a 35-year-old woman was allegedly raped after being taken away by an unknown motorcycle rider. The victim's mother lodged a formal complaint with the Danilimda police station, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
Sequence of Events on the Fateful Night
According to Police Inspector H N Patel of Danilimda police station, the victim, who has been living with her parents since her divorce four years ago, resides in a four-storey house. On the night of November 27, she woke up around 1 am and left her residential society. Shortly after stepping out, an unidentified man on a motorcycle approached her, abducted her, and sped away.
The woman returned to her home at 4 am. The following morning, she recounted the traumatic ordeal to her parents. She stated that the accused forcefully took her to an unspecified location in the surrounding area, where he raped her on a rock, before abandoning her near a road adjacent to her residence.
Initial Doubts and Police Complaint
Initially, family members were skeptical of her account due to her known history of depression and ongoing medication. However, after deliberation, they decided to approach the police on Tuesday to formally report the crime. Police Inspector Patel confirmed that after checking CCTV footage from the vicinity of her society, they verified that an unidentified individual on a motorcycle did approach the woman while she was walking outside at night and took her away.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
The Danilimda police have registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to rape and kidnapping or abducting a woman with intent to compel her for sexual intercourse. The investigation is currently active, with police efforts focused on tracing the identity and whereabouts of the accused based on available evidence and footage.
