A woman in Bahraich has filed a police complaint against five members of her husband's family, accusing her father-in-law of sexual assault and her husband of ending the marriage through triple talaq over the phone.
According to police, the complainant is a resident of Lucknow who married a man from Muslim Bagh in Rupaidiha town, Bahraich district, in 2023 under Muslim customs.
In her complaint, the woman stated that the initial years of marriage were trouble-free. However, she alleged that her father-in-law sexually abused her multiple times when her husband was away. The most recent assault reportedly occurred on January 24.
When she protested and informed family members, she claimed her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law assaulted her instead of supporting her. She further alleged that her husband pronounced triple talaq during a telephone conversation.
Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
