In a shocking turn of events, Gurgaon police have arrested a woman for allegedly filing a false rape case as part of a calculated conspiracy to extort money and exert pressure on another woman. The arrest follows a detailed investigation that unraveled a web of deceit, revealing the complaint to be entirely fabricated.
The Initial Complaint and Police Action
The accused, a resident of Rajasthan currently living in Delhi, approached the DLF Phase-2 police station on December 11. In her formal complaint, she alleged a harrowing ordeal. She claimed that after being contacted for a job interview via an online portal, she was asked to reach the MG Road Metro Station on November 15.
The woman, a former cabin crew member with a private airline, stated that two men met her, made her sit in a car they claimed was an office vehicle, and took her to MGF Metropolitan Mall. She alleged she was subsequently raped inside the moving vehicle and threatened with death if she disclosed the incident.
Based on her allegations, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 351(3) for criminal intimidation, Section 64(1) for rape, and Section 79 for insulting the modesty of a woman.
Investigation Unravels the Truth
However, the investigation led by the Gurgaon police soon began to reveal major inconsistencies in the complainant's story. A thorough probe was conducted, which included a meticulous analysis of CCTV footage, call detail records (CDR), and other technical evidence to reconstruct the timeline of events.
Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar stated that the woman's claims could not be substantiated. "She claimed the entire incident occurred within a 15-minute window in a moving car, but CCTV footage and technical checks showed that the accused and the alleged perpetrators had never met and had no prior contact," Kumar explained.
The Conspiracy and Motive Revealed
The probe took a dramatic turn when investigators discovered that the complaint was not just false but part of a premeditated conspiracy. Police revealed that the woman had fabricated the case in collusion with a Faridabad resident identified as Jitendra, alias Bittu.
The motive behind the elaborate plot was twofold: to extort money and to pressure the wife of one of the men named as a perpetrator in the false case. This targeted woman had earlier lodged a separate rape case against Bittu at the Sohna police station. Bittu was booked in that case earlier this year and was released on bail just last month.
The conspiracy was allegedly hatched to create leverage and pressure on the original complainant to withdraw her case against Bittu. Following the findings, the police arrested the woman for filing a false First Information Report (FIR) and conspiring to commit extortion and intimidate a witness.
This incident highlights the critical role of forensic and technical investigation in distinguishing genuine complaints from malicious ones. It also underscores the severe legal consequences of misusing laws intended to protect victims, as such actions can undermine the credibility of real survivors and waste precious investigative resources.
