Background of Marital Strife

Vijendra worked intermittently as a driver and labourer, but did not maintain regular employment and was known to spend his days drinking. This behavior frequently led to financial strain, as he would ask Sonia for money to purchase alcohol, sparking numerous arguments between them.

Vijendra's elder brother, Babloo Kumar, who filed the official complaint at the Khoda police station, recounted that the marital discord was a longstanding issue. He noted that the couple's 11-year marriage was marred by constant conflicts, which sometimes required police intervention.

Discovery of the Crime

The family immediately rushed to Vijendra's room, where they found him lying unconscious. They promptly took him to a nearby hospital for medical attention. From there, he was transferred to Lal Bahadur Shashri Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Following the discovery, police were notified, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Sonia under Section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to punishment for murder. Abhishek Srivastava, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Indirapuram, confirmed that autopsy reports conclusively indicated Vijendra died from smothering.

Based on this evidence and witness statements, Sonia was arrested. The police have stated that further investigation is currently underway to gather additional details and ensure a thorough examination of the case.
