The incident occurred in the Prem Nagar area, prompting a police manhunt for the suspect, identified as Abhishek, a bank employee.

Details of the Incident

According to investigators, the suspect, originally from Barnala, had befriended the woman after renting a nearby accommodation. Their relationship turned sour when he began pressuring her into marriage. After she rejected his proposal and blocked his number, tensions escalated.

In her police complaint, the woman stated that on May 26, while collecting laundry from her rooftop, the suspect ambushed her without provocation. He allegedly used an iron kada, a traditional heavy metal bracelet, to strike her repeatedly in the face. The assault only stopped when she screamed for help, causing the assailant to flee.
