Woman Beats Husband to Death Over Alcohol Addiction in Farrukhabad

A late-night domestic dispute over alcohol addiction turned fatal in Farrukhabad district when a 35-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his wife after he returned home drunk and picked up a quarrel. The accused woman has been taken into custody, while police have sent the body for post-mortem examination.

The deceased, Ramkumar Shakya (35), a resident of Baghauna village in the Nawabganj area, was reportedly addicted to alcohol. According to police, he reached home in an intoxicated condition around 11 pm on Thursday, triggering an argument with his wife, Anupam Shakya (30), who frequently objected to his drinking habit.

As the altercation escalated, Anupam allegedly attacked her husband with a stick, repeatedly striking him and inflicting grievous injuries. Around 1 am, Ramkumar's brother Akash, who also lives in the village, arrived at the house and rushed him to a private hospital in the city. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police Investigation Underway

Additional Superintendent of Police Girish Kumar Singh said preliminary investigation indicated that frequent disputes occurred between the couple over Ramkumar's alcohol addiction. "He came home drunk and started quarrelling with his wife. In a fit of rage, she allegedly assaulted him repeatedly with a stick, causing severe injuries that later proved fatal," the officer said.

The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
