Woman Brandishes Pistol at Wedding in UP, FIR Filed

A video showing a woman brandishing a country-made pistol at a wedding ceremony has prompted the Pratapgarh police to register an FIR against her. The incident took place during a marriage function on May 7, leading authorities to act against her for the reckless display of a firearm.

Police Investigation

DSP (Raniganj) VP Sahni said that after a video of a woman brandishing an illegal firearm went viral on social media on Monday, police investigated the matter and traced the incident to Akodia village, where a wedding party from Phulpur (Prayagraj) had arrived in Mandhata on May 7. He further added that the woman seen wielding the illegal weapon was reportedly from the groom's side.

Legal Action

He said, “An FIR has been lodged against the unknown woman with Mandhata police station under the relevant sections of BNS and Arms Act and probe is underway to ascertain the firearm’s source and its connection to her.”
