Woman Drowns in Periyar River at Aluva; Police Investigate Suicide

A tragic incident unfolded in Aluva on Saturday when a 27-year-old woman drowned in the Periyar River. The woman, a native of Karumalloor, reportedly jumped into the river from the footbridge at Aluva Manappuram around 11:30 am, according to sources.

Search and Recovery Operation

Soon after the incident, the fire force was alerted, and a search operation was launched. Approximately half an hour later, the woman's body was recovered about 40 meters away from the bridge. The body has been shifted to Aluva district hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Police Investigation Underway

Police stated that while the initial assessment points to suicide, a detailed probe has been initiated to ascertain the precise circumstances leading to the death. Authorities are examining all possible reasons and gathering evidence to confirm whether it was a case of suicide or if other factors were involved.
