DEHRADUN: The tranquil hills of Dhanaulti were jolted on Monday following the mysterious demise of a newlywed software engineer from Delhi at a homestay.
The 27-year-old woman, identified as P Radha Gayatri, was discovered dead inside the homestay room where she had checked in with her husband on Saturday night.
Gayatri, a resident of Kidwai Nagar in Delhi, worked for a technology firm in Gurgaon, according to police. Her husband, Soumya Shricharan, also a software professional, is based in Pune.
The couple married on November 8, 2025, and both families originally hail from Visakhapatnam.
The incident came to light around 7:30 am on Monday when police received an emergency call reporting an unconscious female guest at the property.
A police team, along with medical personnel, rushed to the spot and found Gayatri dead.
The circumstances inside the room have raised several questions. Mussoorie police station officer Devendra Chauhan stated that the woman was found lying naked on the floor, with blood on the bedsheet.
“The victim was found lying naked on the floor, and there was blood on the bedsheet. We also recovered two empty liquor bottles from the room,” Chauhan said.
According to police, Gayatri’s husband told investigators that the couple had consumed alcohol before going to sleep around 3:30 am. He claimed that when he woke up, he found his wife unconscious and bleeding from her nose.
When approached by the media, Shricharan refused to comment.
Police said the couple had traveled from Delhi to Rishikesh on June 13 before reaching the Mussoorie homestay around 11:30 pm on Saturday.
The police are investigating the sequence of events leading up to Gayatri’s death.
