Woman Found Dead in Closed Gorakhpur Shop, Police Suspect Foul Play
A 25-year-old woman was discovered dead inside a shuttered shop in the Golghar area of Gorakhpur on Wednesday morning, with police suspecting foul play after finding injury marks on her head.
Decomposed Body Discovered After Foul Smell Alert
The deceased, identified as Gangotri Yadav, who operated a printing press near the district panchayat office, was found in a highly decomposed state inside a cabin. Locals alerted authorities about a strong stench emanating from the shop, which had remained closed for approximately three days.
Cantt police officers forced open the shutter to recover the body. "The shop was closed, and the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition," a police officer stated, highlighting the grim discovery.
Family's Tragic Discovery and Marriage Plans
Gangotri's brother, Ramesh Yadav, revealed that she was the youngest among three siblings and the family had been actively preparing for her upcoming marriage. "I last met her on Sunday. When she didn't answer calls on Monday, we got worried," he recounted, expressing the family's distress.
Family members arrived at the scene on Wednesday after detecting the overpowering odor, which subsequently led to police intervention and the breaking open of the shop.

Authorities are currently probing the potential involvement of Anil Gupta, a colleague who had worked with Gangotri for eight years and is now untraceable. Several individuals have been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
SP City Nimesh Patil confirmed that head injury marks were evident on the body, and all possible angles are being thoroughly examined. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further forensic evidence.
