Woman Found Dead in Matrimonial Home 12 Weeks After Wedding in Bahadurgarh
A 22-year-old woman has been discovered deceased at her matrimonial residence in Patel Nagar, Bahadurgarh, Haryana, merely twelve weeks following her wedding, triggering a criminal probe and murder accusations from her bereaved family.
Family Alleges Foul Play Amid Suicide Claims
While the in-laws assert that the woman, identified as Rani from Jorasi village, died by suicide on Monday night, her father, Laxman, has formally lodged a complaint alleging foul play. He is demanding a high-level investigation into what he terms the targeted killing of his daughter. Rani had married Vishal on December 5, and her father claims her transition to the new home was fraught with immediate distress signals.
"She was educated and mentally strong. She could not have taken such a drastic step," Laxman informed the police, highlighting that during their last conversation on March 1, his daughter had urgently requested to return to her paternal home.
Opaque Notification Raises Suspicions
The family's doubts were compounded by the ambiguous manner in which they were informed. Rani's brother-in-law reportedly contacted them on Monday night, urging them to rush to Bahadurgarh without disclosing any details. It was only later that her husband conveyed she had allegedly hanged herself.
Sector-6 police and a specialized forensic team promptly arrived at the Patel Nagar residence. Investigators have gathered physical evidence from the scene and dispatched it for analysis. Authorities have registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses the abetment of suicide, though the family persists in pushing for murder charges.
Autopsy Awaited for Clarity
The body has been transferred to Bahadurgarh's civil hospital for a postmortem examination, with results anticipated to elucidate the cause of death. Station house officer (SHO) Jai Bhagwan Dahiya confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made as of Tuesday.

This tragic event has revived local apprehensions about the safety of newly married women and the transparency of probes into unnatural deaths within matrimonial settings. "She frequently sounded distressed and would often plead to be taken back home," her father alleged in his complaint, depicting a marriage that rapidly deteriorated. Police indicated that subsequent actions, including potential arrests, will hinge on the autopsy findings and forensic analysis.
