Bhilwara: A 70-year-old woman was discovered dead and dismembered in a forested area near Lavadar village in Tonk district, with her body parts packed in four plastic sacks, police confirmed on Friday.
Discovery of the Body
The body was found late Thursday night after villagers alerted police about a foul smell emanating from sacks near a roadside dumping site. Preliminary investigations indicate the woman was murdered and her body was cut into pieces, apparently to conceal her identity.
Identification of the Victim
Police identified the deceased as Harbai, originally from Agra in Uttar Pradesh. She had been residing in Lavadar village for over two decades, according to authorities.
Background and Family
Harbai had been missing for the past three to four days. She lived with her brother, Uda Lal Gurjar, in the village. Her son had predeceased her, while her daughter is married and lives in Ghas village.
Villager's Suspicion
Villager Parshuram Meena informed police that he had noticed the sacks near the site for the past two days. Suspecting something was wrong after a strong odor emerged, he alerted authorities.
Police Investigation
Tonk Deputy Superintendent of Police Mrityunjay Mishra stated that the body was recovered in a dismembered condition, and an investigation is underway. Mehndwas SHO Ramnivas Yadav said police are questioning family members and others acquainted with the victim to establish the circumstances leading to her death. The site where the body was found is commonly used for dumping garbage and animal carcasses, he added.
