A 23-year-old woman was discovered hanging inside her residence at Kadakkal in Kollam district on Sunday, with police treating it as a suspected case of suicide. The deceased, identified as Vaishnavi, was found suspended from a window wire in her bedroom.
Immediate Response and Medical Efforts
Upon finding her unresponsive, family members and local residents rushed her to the Kadakkal taluk hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival. Subsequently, the body was transferred to the Parippally medical college for postmortem examination and is currently being kept in the mortuary.
Police Investigation Underway
The Kadakkal police have registered a case of unnatural death and have begun recording statements from family members and neighbors as part of the preliminary inquiry. Authorities stated that no foul play is suspected at this stage, though all angles are being thoroughly examined. Inquest proceedings were conducted in the presence of the revenue divisional officer, and forensic experts visited the house to collect evidence from the scene. Police confirmed that further investigation is ongoing.
According to relatives, Vaishnavi was pursuing a course in fashion designing in Thiruvananthapuram and had recently returned home. The incident has left the local community in shock, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
