Woman Found Hanging in Lucknow, Family Protests in Kanpur

A 23-year-old married woman from Babupurwa died under suspicious circumstances in Lucknow. Her family members placed the body on the road and staged a protest in Kanpur, demanding justice from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday. However, by the time police reached the site, the family had left to perform the last rites.

Details of the Incident

The deceased, Mansi Rajput, a resident of Bagahi, was married to Sagar Rajput of Jhavvaran Kala Fatak, Saadatganj, Lucknow, on December 9, 2024. The couple had a six-month-old son. On May 30, Mansi was found hanging from a noose at her in-laws' house.

Family Alleges Dowry Harassment

Mansi's uncle, Sunil Kumar, filed a complaint accusing her husband and in-laws of dowry death. Kumar stated that Mansi's family gave cash worth Rs 7 lakh along with other items during the wedding, but her husband Sagar, father-in-law Rajesh, brother-in-law Anu, sisters-in-law Barkha and Chandni, and aunt-in-law Asha continued to harass her, demanding more dowry. He alleged that Mansi was harassed for not bringing an SUV as dowry.
