Bhabhua Court Delivers Life Sentence in Gruesome Child Murder Case

In a significant ruling, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-V in Bhabhua, presided over by Judge Ashutosh Kumar Singh, has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment with rigorous imprisonment for the brutal murder of a seven-year-old boy. The horrific crime occurred in Naudih village under the Chainpur police station area on November 5, 2020, and the verdict was pronounced on Saturday.

Details of the Crime and Conviction

The convict, identified as Sita Devi, wife of Upendra Rai and a resident of Naudih, was found guilty of luring her neighbor Munna Rai's seven-year-old son, Deepu Lal, to her house. According to court records, she tied the boy's hands and feet before fatally slitting his throat with a sharp-edged weapon. The prosecution, led by Additional Public Prosecutor Deenanath Singh, presented compelling witness testimonies and material evidence during the trial, which ultimately led to the court holding Sita Devi guilty.

In addition to the life sentence, the court imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Sita Devi. It was further directed that if she fails to pay this fine, she will have to undergo an additional two months of imprisonment. This decision underscores the severity of the crime and the court's commitment to delivering justice for the young victim.

Separate Murder Case Results in 10-Year Sentence

In a related development from the same judicial district, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-II, Yogesh Tripathi, handed down a sentence of 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to Dadan Chaurasia. This case involved the murder of a neighbor over a house construction dispute at Shivpur village under the Sonhan police station area in Kaimur district on February 17, 2020.

The conviction highlights ongoing efforts by the judiciary to address violent crimes in the region. Both cases demonstrate the legal system's rigorous approach to prosecuting and penalizing offenders, ensuring that such acts do not go unpunished.

The rulings have been met with a mix of relief and somber reflection in the local community, as residents grapple with the tragic loss of life and the legal outcomes that follow.
