A woman was injured after a burglar opened fire while fleeing a crime scene in Bagalkot district, Karnataka, late Tuesday night. The incident took place in the Navanagar area, where the accused had broken into a house.

Details of the Incident

The burglar, identified as Ravi, had allegedly entered the residence of one Basavaraj Hiremath. When the family members raised an alarm, the accused attempted to escape. During his escape, he fired from his pistol, injuring a woman named Shobha, who was a neighbor.

Shobha, who was standing near her house, sustained a bullet injury to her leg. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.

Police Investigation

Upon receiving information, the Bagalkot police reached the spot and launched an investigation. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
