Woman Critically Injured in Gwalior Road Rage Firing After Honking Incident
A shocking incident of road rage escalated into a violent attack in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, leaving a 60-year-old woman critically injured after unidentified persons opened fire on her car. The altercation began when her son honked at a vehicle blocking the road, leading to a dangerous chase and shooting.
Details of the Violent Encounter
The incident occurred near Rangawaan village in the Behat police station area around 10:30 PM on Wednesday. According to police reports, the woman, identified as Vimla Devi Sharma, and her son, Bhim Gautam Sharma, were returning to their home in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, after visiting temples in Gwalior. They had attended a Bhagwat Katha at Gijorra Dudhkhoh village earlier.
As they approached Rangawaan village, they encountered a white car parked in the middle of a narrow road, obstructing their path. The car was occupied by three to four young men. Bhim Sharma honked and blew the hooter to request the other vehicle to clear the way, but received no initial response.
Escalation to Gunfire
After the honking, the occupants of the white car allowed the Sharma family to pass but soon began chasing their vehicle. Upon reaching a short distance, the assailants opened fire. A bullet pierced the car's window and struck Vimla Devi Sharma in the neck, causing grievous injuries.
The attackers fled the scene towards Bhind, according to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Manish Yadav. The injured woman was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where her condition was reported as critical. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder against four unidentified persons and are actively working to trace them.
