A 38-year-old woman lost her life in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday morning in the Kakori area of Lucknow. The victim, identified as Sadhana Maurya, was out for a morning walk with her neighbours when a speeding vehicle struck her. The driver and the vehicle remain unidentified, prompting police to launch an investigation using CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Details of the Incident
According to police, Sadhana Maurya, a resident of Roshan Lawn near Golakuaan in Kakori, had gone for a morning walk with her neighbours, Girisha Maurya and Geeta Maurya. The three women were walking along the roadside when a speeding vehicle rammed into Sadhana. Eyewitnesses reported that the impact was so severe that she was thrown nearly 15 feet into the bushes. She sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.
Injuries and Response
In the same accident, Girisha Maurya suffered minor injuries, while Geeta Maurya escaped unhurt. Bystanders and family members rushed Sadhana to Era Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Sadhana is survived by her husband Anand alias Tinku Maurya, who works at a retail chain, and their two children—a son and a daughter.
Police Investigation
Inspector Satish Chandra Rathore confirmed that a case has been registered against the unidentified driver. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the vehicle and trace the driver. The investigation is ongoing.
