Hyderabad: The death of a 20-year-old woman in a hit-and-run case at Bandlaguda led to protests on Thursday night. The victim was identified as Fatima Begum.

Details of the Incident

According to Bandlaguda police, the accident occurred when Fatima Begum, her husband Mohammed Amir, and his brother's children — Sheik Suleiman (8) and Nausheer Begum (1) — were returning home after attending a wedding. They were traveling on a two-wheeler. At the Bandlaguda U-turn, a lorry struck their bike.

Fatima sustained a severe head injury and died on the spot, while the other three escaped with minor injuries. The lorry driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Protests and Police Action

Following the tragic incident, a large crowd gathered at the location and staged a protest demanding justice. The police have registered a criminal case and are investigating the matter. Meanwhile, AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi visited the spot to express condolences and assure support to the bereaved family.

Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward and help identify the absconding driver. The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and hit-and-run cases in the city.
