Woman Brutally Murdered by Husband in Moving Car During Police Escort
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Sangareddy district, a 29-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her husband inside a moving car on Sunday night. The horrific crime occurred at Nandikandi village in Sangareddy district, just hours after police had traced the woman in the company of another man.
Police Constable Present During Fatal Attack
The killing took place in the presence of a police constable who was accompanying the couple. According to police officials, the accused, Sidda Reddy, who runs a chaat business, attacked his wife Kavitha (29) with a knife while they were being brought back to Zaheerabad from Jadcherla.
The couple was seated in the rear of the car, while the constable was sitting in the front when the sudden and violent attack occurred. Sangareddy district superintendent of police Paritosh Pankaj confirmed that the constable attempted to intervene but failed to prevent the fatal assault.
Details of the Tragic Incident
"Kavitha was attacked twice on her neck with a sharp weapon," police stated in their official report. "She was immediately shifted to a local hospital for emergency treatment, where medical professionals declared her brought dead upon arrival."
The background to this tragedy began on March 28 when Kavitha went missing from her home. Her husband Sidda Reddy lodged a formal complaint with Zaheerabad police the following day after unsuccessful attempts to locate her. Her phone had been switched off, complicating search efforts.
Police Investigation and Controversial Decision
During their investigation, police received crucial information on April 4 indicating that Kavitha was in Jadcherla. Local police units traced her location and reportedly found her in the company of her alleged paramour Pavan Kumar.
A constable accompanied Sidda Reddy in a private vehicle to bring Kavitha back to Zaheerabad for completing formalities related to the missing person complaint. This decision to allow the husband to travel with the police team has since come under intense scrutiny and raised serious questions about police protocols.
Police Justification and Ongoing Investigation
Zaheerabad inspector Shiva Lingam explained the reasoning behind their decision: "We mainly took him because someone had to identify her officially. The aspect of Kavitha eloping with Pavan is still an allegation at this stage, and we are actively ascertaining the facts through our ongoing investigation."
Premeditated Nature of the Crime
Police investigations have revealed that the accused had planned the murder in advance with chilling precision. "Sidda Reddy had a clear, premeditated plan to kill Kavitha," Zaheerabad police officials disclosed. "He purchased a button knife specifically for this purpose and kept it concealed in his pocket throughout the journey."
The murder was committed while traveling back to Zaheerabad, with the attack occurring at Nandikandi village as the vehicle was in motion. Sidda Reddy and Kavitha had been married since 2014, adding another layer of tragedy to this domestic violence case.
Broader Implications and Community Impact
This horrific incident has highlighted several critical issues:
- The vulnerability of women in domestic situations
- Protocols for police escorts during sensitive domestic cases
- The need for improved risk assessment in family disputes
- Community awareness about domestic violence prevention
The case continues to develop as authorities conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of this tragedy, including the circumstances leading up to the murder and the procedures followed by law enforcement personnel.
