Woman Fatally Stabbed in Amroha Village, Caste Unrest Follows

A tragic incident in Amroha district has resulted in the death of a 28-year-old married woman, leading to significant caste-related tensions and a substantial police presence in the area. The victim, identified as Ruby Devi, was attacked on Wednesday afternoon while returning from a village feast in Pachokara Meherban Ali village, Bijnor.

Police Action and Arrests Made

Law enforcement authorities have taken swift action in response to the murder. An FIR has been registered against ten individuals under BNS section 103(1), which pertains to murder. The primary accused named in the report are Dheeraj Kumar and his brother Neeraj Kumar, along with their parents Brajpal Singh and Anita Devi, an acquaintance named Maniram, and five other unidentified persons.

In a significant development, police arrested Dheeraj and Neeraj Kumar on Thursday evening. During the investigation, the knife allegedly used in the crime was recovered. A search operation is currently underway to locate and apprehend the remaining accused individuals involved in this heinous act.

Background of the Relationship and Motive

According to SP Amit Kumar Anand, preliminary interrogation of the suspects has revealed crucial details about the case. It was disclosed that Dheeraj Kumar and Ruby Devi had been involved in a relationship for approximately three years. Ruby was married to a local labourer, Narendra Singh. The murder is believed to have been committed after Ruby distanced herself from Dheeraj, suggesting a possible motive linked to the breakdown of their relationship.

Caste Tensions and Community Unrest

The incident has triggered considerable unrest in the village, primarily due to the fact that the victim and the accused belong to different castes. This caste dynamic exacerbated the situation, leading to a mob vandalising the house of the suspects. In response to the escalating tensions, police units, including the Provincial Armed Constabulary, were deployed in large numbers to maintain order and prevent further violence.

The body of Ruby Devi has been sent for a postmortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure peace and security in the region while continuing their efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice.
