New Delhi: A 38-year-old woman and her teenage son were allegedly stabbed to death during a robbery in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri in the early hours of Thursday.
Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as Sharda Sahu, a homemaker, and her 13-year-old son, a Class 7 student. The incident occurred at their residence in Gali No. 10, Govindpuri, Kalkaji.
Police Response
According to police, a PCR call regarding the double murder was received at Govindpuri police station around 1.11 am. Local police teams, along with senior officers, rushed to the spot and secured the crime scene. Crime and forensic science laboratory teams examined the spot and collected evidence.
Sequence of Events
During preliminary inquiry, police found that complainant Vishnu Sahu, who works as a fruit and vegetable vendor in weekly markets, had returned home around 12.30 am. He noticed that the front door was latched from outside. After entering the house, he discovered the bodies of his wife and son lying inside the residence with multiple stab wounds.
Robbery Angle
Police said inspection of the house suggested a robbery angle, as cash and jewellery were found missing from almirahs. A case under sections 103 (murder) and 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are examining CCTV footage and questioning neighbors to identify the perpetrators. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
