In a gruesome incident, the beheaded body of a woman was found inside a train coach at the Lucknow railway station on Wednesday. The body parts, including the head, were stuffed in polythene bags and scattered inside the compartment, sending shockwaves through the area.
Discovery of the Body
The macabre discovery was made by railway staff during routine cleaning of the coach. Upon finding the polythene bags, they alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP). The GRP team, along with forensic experts, reached the spot and began an investigation. The victim is yet to be identified, and her age is estimated to be between 25 and 30 years.
Police Investigation Underway
Senior police officials have arrived at the scene and are examining the coach for clues. The train, which originated from a nearby city, had arrived at the Lucknow junction earlier in the day. Police suspect that the murder might have taken place elsewhere and the body was dumped in the train. The GRP has registered a case of murder and is scanning CCTV footage from the station and the train to identify suspects.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Railways) said, "We are thoroughly investigating the case. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and we are trying to identify the woman. We are also checking the train's passenger list and nearby stations for any suspicious activity."
Public Outrage and Safety Concerns
The incident has raised serious concerns about safety on trains and at railway stations. Local residents and passengers expressed shock and demanded better security measures. "This is a very disturbing incident. We often travel by train, and such news makes us feel unsafe," said a commuter at the station.
Reactions from Authorities
Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) has taken cognizance of the matter and directed senior officials to expedite the investigation. The railway police are also coordinating with the local police to track down the culprits. Officials have urged anyone with information to come forward.
Meanwhile, the body has been sent for autopsy, and the report is awaited. Police are also checking the records of missing women in the region to establish the victim's identity. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
