Woman's Body Discovered in Water Tank in Bhopal, Police Launch Murder Probe

Panic gripped the Chhe Ghara–Kamal Nagar area near Housing Board Colony in Nishatpura, Bhopal, on Thursday afternoon after a woman's body was found inside a water tank on a vacant plot. The body was stuffed inside a closed trunk, leading police to suspect she was murdered and later disposed of in the tank.

Discovery and Police Response

Nishatpura SHO Manoj Patwa stated that a local resident alerted police around 3:30 pm after noticing a foul smell near the tank. Upon closer inspection, the resident found the lid open and saw a trunk inside, prompting an immediate call to authorities.

Police arrived with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and conducted a thorough inspection of the crime scene. With assistance from sanitation workers, they pulled the trunk out of the tank. Its lid was already open, revealing the decomposing body of a woman. The tank, approximately 10 feet deep and half-filled with water, was emptied with help from locals.
