Tragic Suicide in Bhatakhali Village

A 27-year-old woman's mysterious death has shocked the quiet community of Bhatakhali village in Ganjam district. Ranjita Dakua was found dead at her home on Tuesday in what police initially classified as a suicide case.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Kabisurya Nagar police station, sending ripples through the rural community. Local authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Family Points Finger at Husband

The victim's parents have raised serious allegations against her husband, Tukuma Dakua, claiming he might be responsible for their daughter's death. The couple, who married in 2019, had two young children - a five-year-old daughter and three-year-old son.

According to police sources, Tukuma had been working as a daily wager in Surat but returned to the village several months ago. Since his return, the couple had been experiencing marital problems.

Kesab Dakua, the victim's brother from Antripda village, filed a formal complaint at Kabisurya Nagar police station. He alleged that Tukuma had been physically assaulting Ranjita and demanding money from her over recent months.

Details of the Fateful Night

Police investigation revealed that the couple had been engaged in heated arguments for three consecutive days prior to the incident. On Monday night, the situation escalated dramatically when they physically attacked each other during a particularly violent confrontation.

Following the altercation, Ranjita entered a room and locked the door behind her. She then proceeded to hang herself while her young daughter remained present in the same room.

The child managed to exit the room and alerted her father about what had happened. Tukuma and other family members immediately broke into the room and rescued Ranjita, but she had already succumbed to her injuries.

The body has been sent to MKCG Medical College for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Niranjan Das, the Investigating Officer in Charge of Kabisurya Nagar police station, confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway.

Local community members expressed shock and grief over the incident, highlighting the need for greater awareness about domestic violence and mental health support in rural areas. The case continues to develop as police gather additional evidence and statements from family members and neighbors.
