A tragic industrial accident in Pune claimed the life of a young worker on Saturday evening after an old industrial structure gave way. The incident occurred at a construction site within the Bhosari MIDC area, sending shockwaves through the local industrial community.
Details of the Tragic Collapse
The victim has been identified as Maruti Bhalerao, aged 32. According to officials from the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade, Bhalerao was working at a private company's construction site located adjacent to the Modern Metal Services firm in the J Block of Bhosari MIDC. The catastrophe unfolded around 4:45 pm when the aged industrial shed of the Modern Metal Services company suddenly collapsed onto the site.
Emergency services were immediately alerted. Teams from the Nehru Nagar, Pimpri, and Bhosari fire stations rushed to the location following the distress call. Fearing that multiple workers could be trapped beneath the debris, rescue personnel employed a backhoe loader to clear the heavy rubble.
Rescue Operation and Aftermath
During the frantic rescue efforts, one injured worker was discovered under the wreckage. Vikas Todarmal, a fire officer with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, confirmed that the individual was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Despite rescue attempts, the outcome was fatal for Maruti Bhalerao. Senior police inspector Ganesh Jamdar of the Bhosari MIDC police station stated that Bhalerao was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. In line with standard legal protocol following such incidents, the police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR). Inspector Jamdar confirmed that a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the collapse is currently underway.

The Bhosari MIDC police station has taken charge of the case. The probe will likely focus on determining the structural integrity of the old shed and whether all necessary safety precautions were being observed at the active construction site.
