Yamunanagar Police Seize ₹90 Lakh Heroin, Arrest Two in Major Drug Bust
Yamunanagar ANC arrests 2, recovers 810g heroin worth ₹90 lakh

In a significant blow to drug trafficking activities, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Yamunanagar district police has arrested two individuals and confiscated a substantial quantity of heroin. The seized contraband, weighing 810 grams and known as smack, carries an estimated international market value of a staggering ₹90 lakh.

Operation Based on Specific Intelligence

Addressing journalists, Yamunanagar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajat Gulia credited the successful operation to the directives of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. This seizure marks another critical victory in the police department's ongoing and determined campaign against narcotics. Acting on precise intelligence, ANC in-charge Anil Kumar assembled a dedicated team for the task.

The special team included Sub-Inspector Karmbir, officials Gurnam and Sultan, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajinder, and personnel Amit, Vimal, and Pankaj. This squad strategically set up a barricade beneath the flyover on Old Radaur Road, where they stopped and questioned a suspicious young man.

Legal Procedure and Recovery of Contraband

Ensuring all legal protocols were meticulously followed, the police summoned duty magistrate and DSP Headquarters Kanwaljeet to the location. In the presence of the magistrate, a thorough search was conducted. This search led to the discovery and recovery of 810 grams of heroin (smack) from the accused individual.

The apprehended person was identified as Rajnesh, son of Tarachand, a resident of Bareli village in Faridpur. Initial questioning of Rajnesh revealed crucial information about the intended destination of the drugs.

Swift Action Leads to Second Arrest

During preliminary interrogation, it was uncovered that Rajnesh was en route to deliver the narcotics to another individual named Sufiyan, son of Kamaluddin. Sufiyan is a resident of Dabkora village in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district. Recognizing the gravity of the case, the police team acted with urgency.

They swiftly moved to apprehend the second accused. Sufiyan was arrested from an area near the railway underpass close to the Yamunanagar railway station. With both key players in custody, the police have registered a formal case against them under the appropriate sections of the law.

Deep Dive into the Drug Network

The police have stated that the accused will be presented before a court with a request for police remand. This remand is sought to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth investigation into the broader drug trafficking network. ANC in-charge Anil Kumar emphasized that during the remand period, investigators will focus on two primary objectives.

Firstly, they will work to trace the origin of this large heroin consignment. Secondly, efforts will be made to identify the chain of individuals and distributors who were slated to receive the supplied contraband. The police are determined to uncover and dismantle the entire racket, targeting all involved members.

A Sustained Drive Against Narcotics

Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal highlighted that this operation represents the second major action by the district police in the span of just one month. Prior to this, in November, the Special Cell of the police had recovered heroin worth approximately ₹1 crore, underscoring the force's sustained and intensified drive against the narcotics trade in the region.

The latest bust in Yamunanagar not only intercepts a significant quantity of deadly drugs from reaching the streets but also demonstrates the police's commitment to acting on intelligence and targeting the supply chain at multiple levels.
