Major Drug Trafficking Network Dismantled in Yamunanagar

In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Yamunanagar police have successfully dismantled a sophisticated cross-country drug trafficking operation. The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects—including three women—and the seizure of approximately 6 kilograms of opium, with an estimated street value of about ₹36 lakh.

Coordinated Police Action Leads to Arrests

The operation was executed by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Yamunanagar police, which intercepted a well-established smuggling route that stretched from Bihar to Haryana. Acting on specific intelligence regarding the transportation of narcotics along Kharwan Road, a special task force was mobilized under the leadership of ANC in-charge Anil Kumar.

The police team intercepted two couriers, identified as Nazra Khatoon and Toofan, both residents of the Motihari district in Bihar. A thorough search conducted in the presence of a duty magistrate revealed the opium cleverly concealed in their possession, confirming their involvement in the illicit trade.

Simultaneous Apprehension of Buyers

In a simultaneous and coordinated move, police officers apprehended the intended buyers who were waiting at Tikoni Chowk on Jagadhri Road. The buyers were identified as Zulfkar and Pramila. Notably, Zulfkar is a repeat offender with two prior narcotics cases already pending in court, highlighting the persistent nature of such criminal activities.

Yamunanagar deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Rajeev Miglani provided official confirmation of the arrests and subsequent legal proceedings. The suspects were produced in court on Monday, where judicial remands were granted to facilitate further investigation.

Ongoing Investigation and Judicial Proceedings

The Bihar-based couriers, Nazra Khatoon and Toofan, have been placed on a nine-day police remand. This extended remand period will allow investigators to thoroughly trace the source of the contraband and uncover the broader supply network. Meanwhile, the local buyers, Zulfkar and Pramila, were granted a one-day remand as the police continue to gather evidence and build a strong case against all involved parties.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, with law enforcement agencies determined to dismantle the entire interstate supply chain linked to this narcotics route. This operation underscores the commitment of the Yamunanagar police to combat drug trafficking and protect communities from the devastating effects of substance abuse.
