Two Killed, Several Injured in Yavatmal District Bus Crash
A severe road accident on Thursday evening resulted in the death of two individuals and left fourteen others wounded. The incident involved a Maharashtra State Transport (ST) bus and a truck on a state highway in Yavatmal district.
The collision occurred at approximately 7 pm on Thursday at Jalki Phata, which lies on the busy Pandharkawada–Wani route. The ST bus was en route to Yavatmal from Wani when the truck rammed into it with tremendous force.
Severe Impact and Immediate Aftermath
The force of the crash was so intense that it tore almost half of the bus apart, causing widespread damage and panic. Of the 16 people on board, which included the driver and conductor, two passengers lost their lives at the scene itself.
Six individuals sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to the Pandharkawada Sub-District Hospital for emergency medical attention. The list of seriously injured includes the bus driver and conductor.

- Pralhad Chincholkar (27) of Metikheda
- Bhimrao Madavi (32) of Botoni
- Driver Narendra Madavi (54)
- Conductor Sachin Daulat Jhilpe (40)
- Ashok Chunilal Kubde (63) of Digras
Rescue Operations and Concerns
The late-night collision triggered alarm among travelers and locals. Local residents and police personnel quickly rushed to the accident site to assist in the rescue operations, working to extract the injured from the mangled vehicle.
Authorities have expressed concern that the number of casualties may rise, given the severity of the injuries. One of the critically injured, Pralhad Chincholkar, has been shifted to a hospital in Yavatmal for more advanced medical care.
The accident has once again highlighted the issue of road safety on this route, with investigations into the exact cause of the collision likely underway. The community remains in shock following the tragic loss of life and the injuries sustained by so many.
