Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has outlined an ambitious vision for a modern and proactive police force, marking a significant shift from traditional methods. He made these remarks while addressing a crucial two-day conference of senior police officers in the state capital, Lucknow.
From Reactive to Proactive: A Paradigm Shift in Policing
According to an official state government release, the Chief Minister declared that the Uttar Pradesh Police has successfully moved beyond reactive policing. The force is now embracing a proactive and predictive policing model. This strategic change, he asserted, has created a dual impact: instilling fear in the hearts of criminals while simultaneously boosting the confidence of ordinary citizens.
Reflecting on the journey of the past eight and a half years, CM Yogi stated that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a historic transformation in its law-and-order situation and public perception. He credited the relentless efforts and reforms within the police department for this remarkable turnaround.
Pillars of Smart Policing: Recruitment, Cyber Hubs, and Forensics
Elaborating on his vision for 'Smart Policing', the Chief Minister provided concrete details on the multi-pronged progress being made. A major focus has been on strengthening human resources and technical infrastructure.
More than 60,000 police constables are currently undergoing training within the state, a massive capacity-building exercise. On the technological front, a landmark achievement is the establishment of dedicated cyber police stations in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, crucial for tackling modern digital crimes.
The forensic capabilities of the force are also being bolstered. The state has set up 12 new Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs) and is moving forward with the creation of a dedicated Forensic University. These institutions will provide scientific backing for investigations and ensure quicker justice.
Comprehensive Modernization: Training, Infrastructure, and Commissionerate System
CM Yogi's address highlighted that the transformation is holistic. Beyond recruitment and cyber security, significant strides have been made in enhancing training protocols, upgrading physical infrastructure, and effectively implementing the Police Commissionerate system in key cities.
This comprehensive approach aims to create a police force that is not only better equipped and trained but also more accessible and responsive to the needs of the public. The conference served as a platform to review these achievements and strategize for the future challenges in maintaining law and order.
The Chief Minister concluded by lauding the dedication and reforms undertaken by the UP Police, expressing confidence that the ongoing initiatives will solidify the state's reputation for safety and security.
