A youth was detained and later issued a challan for breach of peace after allegedly creating a ruckus at Karamat Husain Muslim Girls’ PG College in Lucknow on Wednesday. The incident occurred during a protest over an alleged hike in second semester examination fees.
Details of the Incident
According to SHO Mahanagar, Akhilesh Mishra, the youth, identified as Shailendra Yadav, had reached the college campus to raise objections regarding what he claimed was an improper fee increase for his sister. However, he allegedly indulged in rowdyism and disrupted the campus atmosphere.
The college administration stated that the incident took place while first-year students were paying their second semester examination fees. The administration maintained that the fee collection process was being conducted according to rules, and students had already been informed that the examination fee was separate from the admission fee.
Allegations and Damage
College principal Huma Khwaja alleged that some students objected to the charges and called an outsider, claiming he was a student leader, to the campus. The youth allegedly entered the office area and created chaos near cash counter number one. During the commotion, property was damaged, and a glass panel at the counter was broken.
The administration further alleged that the youth misbehaved with a female staff member and threatened to set the college on fire, triggering panic among students and staff. Police later reached the spot and detained Yadav.
Authorities have taken the matter seriously and are investigating the incident. The youth has been charged with breach of peace, and further legal action is expected.
