A tragic incident has come to light in Mirzapur district, where the body of a 21-year-old youth was discovered with burn injuries near a canal in Gangahra Khurd village, under the Lalganj police station area, on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Kishan Kumar, a resident of Lahangpur village.

Details of the Incident

According to reports, Kishan Kumar worked at a textile shop in Lahangpur market. On Tuesday night, he left his home and did not return. His family members searched for him until late at night, but their efforts were hampered by a storm accompanied by rain. On Wednesday morning, his body was found near an electricity sub-station and canal in Gangahra Khurd village, with burn marks on his leg, indicating possible electrocution.

Police Investigation

Upon receiving information, Inspector in Charge Abhay Kumar Singh and Lahangpur outpost in charge Sujit Kumar Seth reached the spot along with a police force and a forensic team. The investigation was initiated promptly. Additional SP (Operations) Rajkumar Meena and Police CO Amar Bahadur also inspected the scene and spoke to the family members of the deceased.

A panchnama was filed based on a written complaint from the deceased's uncle, Ramnaresh. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have stated that, prima facie, the death appears to have been caused by an electric current.
