19-Year-Old Arrested for Breaking Temple Donation Box in Kandivali
Youth Held for Stealing Rs 60,000 from Kandivali Temple

MUMBAI: The Kandivali Police have arrested a 19-year-old youth for breaking open the donation box of a temple in Kandivali West and stealing cash. The accused, identified as Arman Shaikh, was apprehended following a thorough investigation. With his arrest, the police have also solved two other theft cases: one at a wine shop in Andheri and another at a temple in Borivali.

The Incident

The latest crime occurred at a Ganesh temple in Kandivali during the intervening night of May 13 and 14. Temple authorities discovered that the donation box had been smashed and a sum of Rs 60,000 was missing. An FIR was registered by the Kandivali Police, who immediately began an investigation.

Investigation and Arrest

Investigators examined footage from surveillance cameras in the vicinity. The footage revealed that two individuals were involved in the theft and had traveled to Kandivali by train from Naigaon. After a detailed probe, Shaikh was nabbed from the Ekta Nagar creek area. Police stated that he resides in Rathodi village in Malwani.

Prior Criminal Record

Shaikh has a prior history of four offenses, including thefts in other temples, motorcycle theft, and a case of child sexual abuse. The arrest was made by a police team supervised by DCP Sandip Ghuge and senior inspector Karan Sonkavde.
