Tragic Early Morning Collision Claims Young Life

A devastating road accident in the early hours of Saturday morning resulted in the death of a 23-year-old youth and left two women passengers seriously injured. The incident occurred when a speeding SUV collided with a stationary truck that had broken down at the Thaltej underbridge in Ahmedabad.

According to police reports, the fatal collision took place around 5 am on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The victim has been identified as Aryan Sureshkumar Batra (23), who was driving the black Kia Seltos SUV at the time of the accident.

Injured Passengers and Medical Treatment

The third occupant of the vehicle, Kirti Pavan Agrawal (21), received minor injuries and was treated at Zydus Hospital. Medical authorities confirmed that she was discharged after receiving necessary medical attention.

FIR Details and Truck Owner's Account

An official First Information Report was registered at the SG Highway-2 traffic police station based on the complaint filed by the truck owner, Sadhuram Sahebram Kargawal (38), who is a resident of Mehsana.

In his police statement, Kargawal revealed that the truck had initially been loaded with goods from Palanpur in Banaskantha around 9 pm on November 7. The vehicle was subsequently taken over by another driver, Rafiqmiya Usmanmiya Sindhi (38), in Mehsana during the night.

The truck breakdown occurred near the Thaltej Underbridge while en route to Sarkhej. Kargawal claimed that around 12:30 am, driver Sindhi informed him about the mechanical failure and was instructed to place tree branches behind the truck and attach a red cloth as warning signals. The driver also confirmed that he had activated the parking lights.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, driver Sindhi contacted Kargawal again around 3 am to report that his mother-in-law had passed away, prompting his immediate departure to Deesa. This left the heavy vehicle unattended at the accident site.

Aftermath and Vehicle Damage Assessment

The truck owner reached the accident location from his Mehsana residence around 7 am on Saturday, where he discovered the collision scene. Local residents informed him that the SUV had crashed into the stationary truck approximately two hours earlier.

The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles. The truck sustained damage to its rear left bumper and body, while the Kia Seltos suffered extensive damage including:

  • Shattered windshield and door glass
  • Damaged front bumper and dashboard
  • Broken steering wheel and headlights
  • Crushed bonnet and side panels

Inspector U B Dhakhada confirmed that further investigation into the tragic incident is currently underway. Police are examining all aspects of the case, including whether proper safety protocols were followed after the truck breakdown and the exact circumstances that led to the fatal collision.

The accident has raised serious concerns about road safety measures and the proper protocol for handling vehicle breakdowns on busy highways, particularly during early morning hours when visibility might be compromised.
