According to Sharma's account to reporters, his ordeal began when he offered a lift to a youth named Ramesh Raut of Nandpur Naya Tola near Krishi Bazaar Road.

"He requested me to drop him at Nandpur Dhala, and then asked to go further into the village," Sharma recounted. "As we reached near a local school in Nandpur Naya Tola, I noticed a group of youths standing there. While I was dropping him off and preparing to leave, a heated argument suddenly erupted among them."

The situation escalated rapidly when Ramesh unexpectedly fired a shot into the air. Sensing imminent danger, Sharma attempted to speed away on his motorcycle but was shot from behind. The impact caused him to fall from the vehicle as the group quickly fled the scene.

Medical Condition and Police Investigation

Dr. Santosh Kumar of the Narkatiaganj subdivisional hospital, who provided initial medical attention, described the victim's condition as serious. "The bullet appears to be lodged in his back since there is no exit wound visible," the doctor explained. "After administering first aid, we referred him to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Bettiah for advanced surgical intervention."

Law enforcement authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. Narkatiaganj Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jaiprakash Singh confirmed that police personnel arrived at the location promptly after receiving information about the shooting.

"Our team reached the spot along with forensic experts and recovered an empty cartridge from the scene," SDPO Singh stated. "The exact motive behind the firing remains unclear at this stage. We are actively working to identify and apprehend the individuals involved in this unfortunate incident."
