In a distressing incident, the body of a 25-year-old youth was discovered near a railway line in the Bihta police station area of Patna district late on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Vikas Kumar, son of Shankar Rai, a resident of Narayanpur village in Mushepur.

Discovery and Police Response

According to police reports, villagers alerted authorities about a body lying in the bushes at Machchli Gali near Bihta Bazar. A team from the local police station, accompanied by officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory, promptly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. The identity of the deceased was confirmed through an identity card found with him, after which his family was notified.

Family's Account and Allegations

The father of the deceased, Shankar Rai, stated that his son had left home in the morning for some work in Bihta. When Vikas failed to return by late night, the family began searching for him. They were later informed by the police that his body had been found near the railway line. The family has alleged that Vikas was murdered and his body was dumped in the deserted area, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.

Ongoing Investigation and Official Statements

The police sent the body for postmortem to Danapur Sub-divisional Hospital. SHO Amit Kumar emphasized that the police are probing the case from all angles, noting that the exact cause of death will only be determined after the autopsy report is received. Danapur SDPO-II, Amrendra Kumar Jha, announced that a dedicated team has been constituted to investigate the death. "CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas are being examined by the team," he said, highlighting efforts to gather evidence.

This incident has raised concerns in the local community, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
