A tragic road accident in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district claimed the lives of two persons, including a child and a student, and left 16 others injured after an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Ultra Deluxe bus collided with a loaded lorry early Monday morning, police officials confirmed.

Accident Details and Casualties

The collision occurred between 1 am and 1.15 am near Udumuvaripalli village in Pullampeta, Kadapa district. The bus was traveling from Tirupati to Kadapa when it collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction. According to police, about six seats on the right side of the bus were severely damaged in the impact, leading to the fatalities and injuries.

"Two persons lost their lives while 16 others sustained injuries after an APSRTC Ultra Deluxe bus was involved in a collision with a loaded lorry in Kadapa district," a police official told PTI. The official added that the lorry driver was also injured and has been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Response from Authorities

Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister M Ramprasad Reddy expressed deep shock over the accident and extended his condolences to the families of the deceased. He directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and personally reviewed the condition of those undergoing treatment at Rajampet Government Hospital.

The minister instructed authorities to shift seriously injured persons to higher medical centers if required and assured all possible support to the affected families. He also sought detailed information on road safety measures and particulars related to the bus and lorry involved in the accident, directing officials to take necessary steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Medical and Legal Proceedings

About 27 passengers were traveling in the bus at the time of the accident. The injured were rushed to Rajampet Government Hospital and other medical facilities for treatment. Police are in the process of registering a case and investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety on state highways, especially during late-night travel. Officials have been urged to strengthen safety protocols and enforce stricter measures to avoid such tragedies.
