Four people were killed and seven others injured after a truck collided with a pick-up van carrying labourers on the Chhindwara-Betul National Highway in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district on Monday, according to police officials.
Accident Details and Location
The fatal crash occurred near Tamri village, approximately 30 kilometres from the district headquarters of Chhindwara. Lawaghoghri police station house officer Aftab Khan confirmed the incident to PTI, stating that the truck hit the van head-on, resulting in the immediate deaths of four labourers. Seven other occupants sustained injuries of varying severity and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police Response and Investigation
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Choubey said he was heading to the accident site to oversee the rescue and investigation operations. The highway stretch has been a concern for local authorities due to frequent accidents, often attributed to overspeeding and poor visibility in certain sections.

The injured have been admitted to a local healthcare facility, and their conditions are reported to be stable. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the collision. The incident highlights the vulnerability of labourers who often travel in overcrowded vans without adequate safety measures.
