Tragic Roof Collapse Claims Five Lives in Bihar Village
A devastating incident unfolded in Manas village of Bihar's Saran district on Sunday night, claiming the lives of five family members, including three children. The tragedy occurred when the roof of their house collapsed while the family was asleep.

The fatal collapse happened at approximately 9:45 pm on Sunday when all family members were sleeping inside their home. According to Saran SSP Kumar Ashish, who confirmed the details to PTI on Monday, the police responded immediately upon receiving information about the incident.
"Five members of the family, including three children, died in the roof-collapse incident," SSP Ashish stated. "Immediately after getting the information, a police team reached the spot and recovered the bodies from the debris."
Police Response and Investigation
The police team worked diligently to recover all five bodies from the wreckage of the collapsed structure. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations as part of the standard investigation procedure. Authorities are currently working to establish the identities of all deceased persons.
Local residents revealed that the ill-fated house was more than 30 years old and had been in deteriorating condition for some time. The aging structure ultimately gave way, resulting in the tragic loss of life.
Administrative Action and Compensation
The area falls under the jurisdiction of the revenue district of Patna. In response to the tragedy, the police have forwarded all relevant documents to the district administration to facilitate adequate compensation for the immediate family members of the deceased.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the urgent need for structural safety assessments of older buildings, particularly in rural areas where aging housing infrastructure may pose significant risks to inhabitants.
