Heavy Security Arrangements in Place for Union Home Minister's Puducherry Visit
A substantial security operation is being implemented in Puducherry's Karaikal region in anticipation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's scheduled visit on February 14. Officials have confirmed that approximately 500 police personnel will be stationed throughout the area to ensure protection and manage crowds during his public program.
Comprehensive Police Deployment Across Key Locations
Personnel from the Puducherry Police and allied units will be strategically positioned at crucial junctions, event venues, and entry points. This extensive deployment will be overseen by the Puducherry Deputy Inspector General of Police, ensuring coordinated security measures across the region.
The visit itinerary indicates that Shah will arrive by helicopter at Thirunallar and then proceed to the municipal ground for a public meeting. There is also a possibility that the senior BJP leader and former party president may visit the Thirunallar temple before his departure.
BJP Intensifies Preparations for High-Profile Event
The Bharatiya Janata Party has significantly ramped up preparations for Shah's visit to the poll-bound Union territory. A bhoomi puja ceremony was conducted on February 7 to mark the commencement of construction for the stage and pandal at the event site.
Thousands of supporters are anticipated to attend the public meeting, with dedicated committees established to handle logistics and crowd coordination. Senior party functionaries have emphasized that the focus remains on securing a strong victory for the ruling All India NR Congress–BJP alliance across all five assembly constituencies in Karaikal.
Puducherry assembly elections are projected to take place in April, adding political significance to this high-profile visit. The security measures reflect the importance of the event and the need to maintain order during the Union Home Minister's engagement with supporters in the region.
