The Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections witnessed a voter turnout of 53.4%, according to officials. Polling took place across all 20 wards of the city, with no major incidents reported. The voting process, which began at 8 am and continued until 6 pm, saw enthusiastic participation from residents.
Polling Statistics
Out of the total 2.5 lakh eligible voters, approximately 1.33 lakh cast their votes. The highest turnout was recorded in Ward 12, while Ward 5 saw the lowest. Security arrangements were tight, with police personnel deployed at all polling stations.
Key Contests
The elections saw a multi-cornered fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and independents. The BJP is hoping to retain control of the civic body, while the Congress and AAP are aiming to make inroads.
Counting of votes is scheduled for the coming days, and the results are expected to be declared soon. The new municipal corporation will be responsible for key civic issues such as waste management, water supply, and infrastructure development in the city.
