Six Doctors Charged for Flex-Board Inspection Lapses
The Haryana government has decided to issue chargesheets to six doctors — three Deputy Civil Surgeons and three Medical Officers — for alleged negligence in inspecting flex-boards installed under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme during 2022-23. The disciplinary action follows a directive from the office of the Additional Chief Secretary (Health) to the Director-General of Health Services (DGHS), Haryana, to initiate proceedings under Rule 7 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016.
Doctors Named in Chargesheet
The doctors facing chargesheets include former Rewari Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Rajbir Singh, current Deputy Civil Surgeons Dr Ashok Kumar and Dr Jogender Tanwar, and Medical Officers Dr Deepak Verma, Dr Rajneesh, and Dr Abhishek Rao. These doctors were part of a committee tasked with purchasing and inspecting flex-boards for Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs).
Inspection Lapses and Consequences
According to the government, the doctors inspected the flex-boards at the office of the Civil Surgeon in Rewari instead of verifying their installation at the HWCs. This lapse prompted the state government to order the DGHS to prepare a chargesheet, which must be vetted by the Assistant District Attorney (ADA) and submitted within 15 days.
Blacklisting of Firm
In addition to the disciplinary action against the doctors, the state government has decided to blacklist the firm Yadav Print Art, Rewari, and forfeit its security deposit. The firm allegedly violated tender terms by receiving payment before the flex-boards were installed.
