Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday voiced serious apprehension regarding the safety and security of vulnerable citizens in the national capital. This comes after a shocking report revealed that 807 individuals, predominantly women and children, went missing in Delhi during the first fifteen days of the year 2026.
Delhi's Law and Order in a State of 'Alarming Collapse'
In a strongly worded statement issued via an AAP press release, Kejriwal slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) much-touted four-engine government. He asserted that the law and order situation in Delhi has deteriorated into a state of alarming collapse. The disappearance of 807 people in just a fortnight, averaging nearly 54 persons every single day, raises profound and urgent questions about public safety and the efficacy of policing in the city.
Deeply Frightening Circumstances in the National Capital
Expressing his profound concern over this deteriorating scenario, Kejriwal emphasized that such a large volume of missing persons in such a short timeframe is not normal. He described the circumstances as deeply frightening. Sharing a media report on the social media platform X, the AAP National Convenor stated, "In Delhi, 807 people have gone missing in just 15 days, and most of them are women and children. These circumstances are not normal; they are extremely frightening. The safety of people in the nation's capital has been left to the mercy of God."
Kejriwal further questioned the ruling administration, adding, "The BJP has complete power at every level in Delhi, yet why has Delhi become so unsafe?" His comments underscore a direct challenge to the BJP-led central government, which controls the Delhi Police through the Union Home Ministry.
AAP's Urgent Appeal to Delhi Residents
In light of these distressing statistics, the Aam Aadmi Party issued an urgent appeal to the residents of Delhi. The party cautioned citizens to remain extremely vigilant. "In the national capital Delhi, more than 800 people have gone missing in the last 15 days, most of them young girls," the party stated. It lamented that all four engines of the government have failed to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable populations.
The AAP's statement was stark in its assessment: "Therefore, take care of yourself and your children. Delhi's law and order is in the ICU." This medical metaphor highlights the party's view that the city's security apparatus is in critical condition and requires immediate intervention.
A Pattern of Failure and Political Neglect
Elaborating on the data, the party noted that between January 1 and January 15, the 807 missing persons translate to an average of 54 individuals vanishing daily. "Such terrifying figures are emerging from Delhi, but the BJP, which has turned law and order into a plaything, is sleeping," the AAP alleged.
The criticism extended beyond the missing persons crisis. The party accused the administration of being distracted and negligent. "Every day, murders are taking place in broad daylight in Delhi. Criminals commit killings openly on the streets and escape, and it makes no difference to Delhi Police's boss Amit Shah," the statement claimed. It concluded by asserting that the four-engine government is preoccupied with what it termed 'four-hundred-twenty' politics, while the people of Delhi are compelled to live under a persistent shadow of fear and insecurity.
This development marks a significant escalation in the political discourse surrounding governance and public safety in India's capital, with the AAP positioning itself as a vocal critic of the current law and order management.
