AAP MP attacks Centre, UP govt over paper leaks, arrests

Prayagraj: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Central and state governments over recurring paper leaks, unlawful arrests of students, and the sealing of coaching institutes that provide education to underprivileged students.

Paper Leaks Shatter Students' Dreams

Singh remarked that the leaking of question papers for various competitive examinations, including NEET, has dealt a severe blow to the dreams of lakhs of students. Incidents of paper leaks have also surfaced in Uttar Pradesh across numerous exams such as Lekhpal, police recruitment, RO/ARO, PCS-J, high school/intermediate, and JE. Yet, the government is focused on suppressing the youth's voice rather than taking effective action against the culprits.

Sealing of Coaching Institutes Condemned

He also condemned the administration's decision to seal three coaching institutes in Prayagraj which catered to children from poor and middle-class families, describing the move as unjust and a violation of rules. He told the media that a notice regarding a breach of privilege has been submitted to the Rajya Sabha Chairman against the ADM (city) in connection with this matter.

Former MLA and Lawyer Speak Out

Former MLA AN Singh alleged that policies are being formulated with the interests of large corporations in mind, while the country's youth, farmers, and laborers remain neglected. Senior High Court lawyer KK Rai pointed out that students against whom no case had been registered were taken into custody without adherence to due legal process, an action that is entirely unconstitutional. He also said that a habeas corpus petition seeking the unconditional release of the students has been filed in the High Court.

The attacks come amid ongoing protests by students and opposition parties demanding strict action against those responsible for paper leaks and the immediate release of arrested students. The government has yet to respond to these allegations.
