In an unfortunate incident at a forward post along the Line of Control, a serving Agniveer jawan was injured due to accidental discharge of his service weapon on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district, where the soldier was performing his duties. According to preliminary reports, the accidental firing happened while the jawan was handling his official firearm.
Immediate medical attention was provided to the injured soldier at the scene before he was quickly evacuated to a nearby military medical facility for specialized treatment. Army officials confirmed that the soldier's condition is currently stable.
"The jawan received prompt first aid and has been shifted to a military hospital for further medical management. His condition is reported to be stable," an army spokesperson stated.

Military authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accidental firing. Standard operating procedures are being reviewed to prevent such incidents in the future.
