Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes Centre's Foreign Policy Over Energy Security and LPG Crisis
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp critique of the BJP-led central government's foreign policy on Saturday, asserting that it has failed to safeguard India's energy security and contributed to the ongoing shortage of LPG cylinders across the nation.
Global Diplomacy and Domestic Impact
Speaking to the media in Mumbai, where he is scheduled to attend the Vision India programme on Sunday, Yadav emphasized that India should have adopted a stronger stance for global peace amidst escalating international conflicts. He directly linked the domestic LPG supply issues to shortcomings in global diplomacy.
"The BJP-led central government's foreign policy has failed. India's energy security and LPG supply are directly linked to global diplomacy," Yadav stated, highlighting the interconnectedness of international relations and domestic welfare.
Humanitarian and Economic Fallout
The SP chief elaborated on the broader consequences of ongoing wars in various regions, noting that these conflicts are not only claiming innocent lives and creating instability but are now significantly impacting India's economy. He pointed out that the scarcity of LPG cylinders has created severe difficulties for both households and the hospitality sector.
"From cooking in homes to the functioning of restaurants and hotels, many are on the verge of shutting down due to the shortage," Yadav explained, underscoring the practical challenges faced by citizens and businesses alike.
Allegations of Government Unpreparedness
Yadav, who previously served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, further alleged that the current crisis is not a sudden development but rather the result of the government's lack of preparedness and foresight. He argued that proactive measures could have mitigated the impact of global events on India's energy supplies.
Upon his arrival in Mumbai, Akhilesh Yadav was warmly welcomed by Maharashtra SP president and MLA Abu Asim Azmi, along with party MLA Rais Shaikh, indicating strong party support for his statements.
Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP Government of Caste Bias in UP
In a separate statement issued from Lucknow on the same day, Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP government of promoting caste bias in administrative appointments, alleging that this practice is enabling criminals and mafia elements to operate with political protection.
Caste-Based Favoritism in Appointments
Yadav claimed that discussions about caste-based favoritism in government postings have become commonplace across Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that officials belonging to particular communities are being deliberately placed in key positions to shield criminals and mafia members of their own castes.
Impact on Law and Order
Asserting that this atmosphere of discrimination and injustice has led to a deterioration in law and order, Yadav cited specific incidents to support his claims, including the killing of a driver in Jaunpur and the shooting of two individuals in Badaun. He emphasized that such events reflect broader systemic issues.
"The PDA alliance will resist pain, oppression, and injustice," Yadav declared, signaling a commitment to combat these alleged practices through political mobilization.
These dual critiques from the Samajwadi Party leader highlight significant concerns regarding both national policy and state-level governance, positioning them as key issues in the ongoing political discourse.
