Akhilesh Yadav Posts NEET Aspirant Suicide Note, Attacks BJP

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday attacked the Modi government over the NEET paper leak and its impact on students, posting the suicide note of an aspirant who ended her life in Madhya Pradesh. He asked if her agony would serve as an 'eye-opener' for BJP supporters.

In a post on X in Hindi, Yadav wrote, 'Whenever the blatant falsehood of developed India under BJP government is chronicled, this last letter of a helpless daughter will be a part of that history. Here is a direct appeal to BJP supporters: Will this letter be an eye-opener for you?' He also shared an image of the suicide note, in which the girl expressed her inability to face the NEET exam again.

The note, addressed to her parents, read: 'Mom and Dad, you had faith that your daughter would study hard and become a doctor, but I no longer have the courage to take the NEET exam again. I would have scored good marks in my first attempt, but now there is no guarantee that I will perform well again. I am sorry, Mom and Dad. I have ruined everything.'

Earlier Attacks and Demands

Earlier, Yadav had criticized the BJP government over the suicide of a NEET aspirant in Lakhimpur Kheri. He sent a party delegation to meet the family, which later submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate seeking Rs 2 crore ex-gratia relief. The party also demanded Rs 50,000 as travel allowance for students appearing in competitive examinations.

Chitrakoot Water Crisis

In a separate statement, Yadav attacked the Uttar Pradesh government over protests in Chitrakoot regarding a shortage of drinking water. He said people were being deprived of basic necessities while the BJP promised them the moon in 2047. 'The protests in Chitrakoot are a sad reality of BJP's much-publicised Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, which has collapsed with overhead water tanks crumbling in different parts of the state due to rampant corruption in their construction,' Yadav stated.
