SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in New Delhi and discussed, among other issues, the restoration of statehood. A government spokesperson stated that the meeting deliberated on the prevailing security and economic situation in Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on ensuring sustained peace, stability, and inclusive growth for the people.

The spokesperson added that discussions covered the transaction of business rules, rationalisation of reservation, and other key governance and public welfare issues related to Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Minister Abdullah emphasised the importance of addressing governance-related concerns and accelerating developmental and welfare initiatives.
Coordination Between Centre and State
Abdullah highlighted the need for continued coordination between the central government and the Jammu and Kashmir government on matters of public importance. The discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting a constructive dialogue aimed at the region's progress.
