Anand Paranjape Appointed Shiv Sena State Chief

Former Shiv Sena MP from Thane and Kalyan, Anand Paranjape, was on Wednesday appointed as the state organisation chief of Shiv Sena for Maharashtra by party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The appointment is for a period of one year.

Political Journey of Anand Paranjape

Anand Paranjape is a two-term Member of Parliament who recently shifted allegiance from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to the Shiv Sena. His return to the Sena comes after a period where he reportedly felt politically sidelined within the NCP. Paranjape had originally started his political career with the Shiv Sena before moving to the NCP over a decade ago. He later followed Ajit Pawar when the latter split from his uncle Sharad Pawar a few years back.

New Role and Responsibilities

Soon after his appointment, Paranjape addressed the media and outlined his vision for the party. He stated that his primary focus would be on strengthening the party organisation within Maharashtra and promoting the core ideology of the Shiv Sena. He emphasised the Hindutva ideology of the party's founder, Balasaheb Thackeray, and the teachings of Dharmaveer Anand Dighe. Paranjape expressed his commitment to spreading these ideals across the state to consolidate the party's base.

Implications for Shiv Sena

This appointment is seen as a strategic move by Eknath Shinde to consolidate the party's organisational structure in Maharashtra. With Paranjape's experience as a former MP and his familiarity with the political landscape, he is expected to play a key role in expanding the party's reach. The move also signals the party's intent to strengthen its Hindutva appeal ahead of upcoming elections.
