BJP Leader Annamalai Slams DMK as 'Slave Party' to Congress in Fiery Election Rally
In a blistering critique during an election campaign rally, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai branded the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) as a "slave party" to the Indian National Congress. The rally was organized to support BJP state president and candidate for the Sattur Assembly constituency, Nainar Nagenthran, held at Alangulam in Sattur, Virudhunagar district, on Saturday evening.
Annamalai's Scathing Remarks on DMK-Congress Alliance
Addressing a gathered crowd, Annamalai pointed out that the Congress party has not held power at the national level for the past 12 years, describing it as weakened and unsuccessful in recent state elections. Despite this, he accused the DMK of allocating more seats to Congress in the current electoral arrangement, reducing the share for allies like the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Communist parties. "If there is any subservient party in Tamil Nadu, it is undoubtedly the DMK," Annamalai asserted, emphasizing his view of the DMK's subordinate role.
Criticism of DMK's Governance and Law and Order
Annamalai further criticized the DMK government's performance, citing statistics on murders and crimes against women and children over the past five years. He argued that the DMK has failed to ensure safety and maintain law and order in the state, calling for their removal from power on these grounds. "The inability to safeguard women and children is a grave failure," he stated, urging voters to consider this in the upcoming elections.
Campaign Highlights and Predictions
During his speech, Annamalai expressed confidence in an NDA wave sweeping across Tamil Nadu, predicting that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami would become the next chief minister. He highlighted Nainar Nagenthran's close relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that this connection would bring significant development to the Sattur constituency. Annamalai appealed to voters to support Nainar for a historic victory.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Annamalai campaigned for BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan in the Coimbatore North constituency. Speaking to reporters, he dismissed "low-level criticism" from former DMK minister V Senthil Balaji, attributing such remarks to fear of electoral defeat. Annamalai referenced Balaji's legal troubles, noting his 471-day imprisonment and hinting at an impending Supreme Court verdict, which he claimed added pressure on DMK leaders.
Allegations of Corruption and Controversial Comments
Annamalai also leveled corruption allegations against the DMK regime, claiming to have submitted evidence of a ₹160-crore irregularity in welfare item distribution involving state textile minister R Gandhi to vigilance authorities, with no action taken. He warned that a change in government would lead to consequences for those responsible.
In a controversial aside, Annamalai commented on the film Jananayagan, advising against watching it on mobile phones and condemning attempts to link Union Minister L Murugan to the issue. He accused Aadhav Arjun of spreading misleading statements and strongly objected to the misuse of Murugan's name and the BJP's reputation.
Annamalai made a provocative prediction about the DMK's future, suggesting that if the party loses the 2026 elections, MP Kanimozhi might form a separate party, while Chief Minister M K Stalin could take a different path, potentially causing internal turmoil.
Campaign Activities and Personal Touch
Responding to concerns about Vanathi Srinivasan's health, Annamalai assured that she would soon return to campaigning with renewed energy. In her absence, her son Adarsh joined the campaign alongside BJP leaders. Adding a personal touch, Annamalai visited a chips shop in Nallampalayam, where he fried murukku and engaged with customers to solicit votes, showcasing a grassroots approach to his campaign efforts.
